Cast Iron pipe replacement Ottawa

Pipe Replacement

Cast Iron Pipes

Cast iron pipes were commonly used in homes built before the 1970s. While durable when new, they corrode and crack over time — leading to leaks, blockages, and sewage backups.

Warning Signs
  • Slow or gurgling drains
  • Rust-coloured water
  • Frequent clogs or backups
  • Visible rust or cracks on pipes
  • Foul odours from drains

Cast iron corrodes from the inside out. By the time you notice a problem, significant damage may already exist. Replacing with modern PVC or ABS pipe eliminates the risk and improves flow.

Lead pipe replacement Ottawa

Pipe Replacement

Lead Pipes

Lead pipes were used in homes built before 1950. Lead is a serious health hazard — it can leach into your drinking water and cause irreversible health problems, especially in children.

Warning Signs
  • Home built before 1950
  • Dull grey, soft pipes that scratch easily
  • Discoloured or metallic-tasting water
  • Health concerns related to water quality
  • Failed water quality test

There is no safe level of lead exposure. Health Canada recommends replacing all lead pipes immediately. We remove and replace lead service lines and interior lead plumbing safely and efficiently.

Clay pipe replacement Ottawa

Pipe Replacement

Clay Pipes

Clay (terracotta) pipes were used for sewer lines in older homes. They are brittle, prone to cracking, and attract tree root intrusion — making them a common cause of sewer backups.

Warning Signs
  • Recurring sewer backups
  • Sinkholes or wet spots in yard
  • Tree roots in drains
  • Slow drains throughout the home
  • Sewage odours in yard or basement

Clay pipes deteriorate over decades and cannot be repaired effectively. We replace them with modern PVC sewer pipe that is smooth, durable, and root-resistant.

Poly-B (Polybutylene) pipe replacement Ottawa

Pipe Replacement

Poly-B (Polybutylene) Pipes

Poly-B pipes were installed in Canadian homes from the late 1970s through the mid-1990s. They are known to fail without warning — causing significant water damage inside walls and ceilings.

Warning Signs
  • Home built between 1978–1995
  • Grey or blue flexible plastic pipes
  • Unexplained water stains on walls or ceilings
  • Insurance company requiring replacement
  • Discoloured or flaking pipe fittings

Poly-B degrades when exposed to chlorine in municipal water. Many insurance companies now refuse to cover homes with Poly-B or charge higher premiums. Replacing it protects your home and your coverage.
